Rainy days

-

All of a sudden, Kidsters, there is an announcement that classes have been suspended by your mayor or barangay captain. Do you jump with joy and go back to sleep?

Wrong. You should still get out of bed, eat your breakfast, and then, yes, you may go back to bed.

That's right, Kidsters. Rainy days are here again and the reason I told you to go back to bed is because I want you to be strong and healthy during these wet days. I want you to drink your vitamins and get plenty of sleep.

Many pupils get to walk in the rain and in flooded areas. Unless you change your clothes immediately and wash up, there is the danger you may catch cold or even what they call those flood borne diseases. I am sure you have your raincoats, sweaters, umbrellas, change of uniform and socks.

But Kidsters, once you get really wet from the rains and you leave yourself to just dry up inside the classroom with the electric fan, you are at risk of getting sick.

Rainy days may be fun when classes get cancelled but such days are also dangerous for your health and safety when you have to go to school and no announcement of cancellation is yet given, amidst stormy weather.

It is of course ideal if you live just near your school. But if you have to take a ride, even if it just by pedicab, there is always the danger of your getting wet.

Remember these always--take lots of vitamins, especially Vitamin C, and drink a lot of water. And don't forget to always wash your hands whenever you can, especially before and after eating. Stay healthy, Kidsters.
