Shooting incidents leave 2 dead

Japanese national found dead inside apartment; security guard attacked by youngsters

TWO persons were shot dead in separate incidents while a Japanese national was found dead last Wednesday.

At 10:40 a.m. last Wednesday, a man was shot dead in Barangay Inayawan, Cebu City.

Victim Allan Baluyos, 20, was allegedly shot by three unidentifi­ed men.

Baluyos sustained several wounds in his body, causing his death.

Witnesses said Baluyos was walking home when the three assailants followed him.

One of three men shot the victim several times. When the victim fell, another assailant shot him one more time.

The gunmen fled toward Sitio Kulo, Barangay Inayawan.

Prior to the incident, the victim was reportedly drinking with friends.

The Homicide Section of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) is still investigat­ing the incident.

At 1 a.m. yesterday, a security guard was also shot in Ba- rangay Carreta, Cebu City.

Melvin Emoy, 49, was shot by two assailants in a warehouse where he was working.

Emoy was found by his coworker already lying in his own blood, with a gunshot wound in his face.

The gunmen reportedly fled towards the interior portion of Sitio Tabay, Barangay Carreta.

An investigat­ion by Homicide Police showed that a week before the incident, Emoy confronted a group of youngsters who attempted to rob a person near the warehouse.

After that, the youngsters warned the victim to watch himself.

Police said the culprits usually pass by the area. They are now investigat­ing the case.

In Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City, Reiko Takahashi, 63, was found dead inside her room yesterday.

According to the tenants of the apartment that Takahashi rented, they noticed a foul smell yesterday morning inside.

The smell led to the room of Takahashi.

A tenant opened the door and saw the body of the Japanese national.

Homicide operatives said they did not find any signs that Takahashi was killed, especially that the room was not in disarray and the man had no injuries.

Takahashi was reportedly suffering from hypertensi­on before his death.
