Woman killed, 3 others hurt after motorbike hit tricycle

A WOMAN died while three others were injured in a vehicular accident before noon last Wednesday in Barangay Basak, LapuLapu City.

The police identified the fatality as Relle Niña Salidaga, 23, an employee of Swiss Sense Worldwide Inc., located inside the Cebu Light Industrial Park in Barangay Basak.

Crossing

At 11:30 a.m., Salidaga was on board a motorcycle when it hit a tricycle at a crossing outside the Cebu Light Industrial Park.

Salidaga and the driv- er of the motorcycle, identified as Ramil Comcom, 22, were thrown off the vehicle, while the tricycle was turned upside down.

Comcom, who was Salidaga’s co-worker, was thrown into the other lane and was hit by a sixwheeler truck.

Passenger

Comcom was rushed to the Chong Hua Hospital in Cebu City.

Salidaga died at the Mactan Doctors’ Hospital, the police said.

The tricycle driver, identified as Jilbert Cabahug, 31, and his passenger Eveline Tolomea were in- jured.

A team from the Emergency Response Unit Foundation responded to the incident.

The police detained the driver of the six-wheeler truck.

The tricycle driver may be charged with reckless driving resulting in homicide and physical injuries.

Carnapping

Meanwhile, a motorcycle-for-hire driver lost his unit to two unidentified men in Purok 6, Barangay Nangka, Consolacion town.

Jehu Ibale, 26, of Sitio Son-oc, Barangay Tayud, Consolacion was ferrying his two passengers at 7:40 p.m. last Wednesday when suddenly one of them poked a gun of unknown caliber at him, took his motorcycle and drove toward Sitio Riverside, Poblacion Oriental.

Suspects

SPO3 Roy Suspilla, who investigated the incident, said Ibale would not name the suspects “for security reasons.”

But the Consolacion Police Station is investigating the incident further.
