Teach ‘darkest period’: Solons
TWO members of the House of Representatives urged schools to teach students about the “darkest period” in the Philippine history or the Martial Law years.
Reps. Walden Bello and Kaka Bag-ao (Akbayan partylist ) proposed this in House Resolution 2608 urging concerned government agencies, including the Commission on Higher Education (Ched) and the Department of Education (DepEd), to immediately convene a task force that will draft the guidelines for teaching at all levels of education the era marked by oppression and human rights violations.
The two lawmakers noted that it has been 40 years since the late president Ferdinand Marcos declared Martial Law through Presidential Decree 1081. (Sunnex)
