3 teams keep perfect run in Cesafi volleyball

DEFENDING champion University of San Carlos (USC) extended its winning run to three games after routing the Cebu Doctors’ University (CDU), 25-8, 25-13, 25-16, in the men’s division of the Cebu Schools Athletics Foundation Inc. volleyball tournament at the USC gym yesterday.

USC is tied at the top spot with main rival University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) and the University of Southern Philippine­s Foundation (USPF), which also got their third wins yesterday.

USJ-R needed only three sets to boot out the University of Cebu (UC), 25-11, 25-13, 26-24, while USPF edged the University of the Visayas , 25-23, 25-19, 19-25, 25-23.

On the other hand, South- western University (SWU) finally earned its first win in three matches after downing the Cebu Institute of Technology-University, 26-24, 16-25, 25-19, 25-23.

SWU will go for its second win against UC, while USJ-R will go for No. 4 against the struggling CIT-U. Host USC will face UV in the final men’s match, and CDU takes on USPF in the first game.

In the women’s division, USJ-R earned its second win against UC, 25-22, 25-15, 2516, while USPF survived a fiveset thriller against CDU, 25-23, 28-26, 21-25, 25-27, 15-5.

Today, defending champion Southweste­rn University, which is unbeaten in two games, will take on CDU and USJ-R will go for its third win against USPF.
