Say hi to high-waist suits! If you can almost hear the sounds of beach waves, then it is time to strip to the bare essentials and go on a holiday at a strip of sand this weekend. Say hello to resort life! (Even if this beach break should last only for a few days, or, even, hours.)

I want to cater to women who have been on the lookout for swimwear that actually hides more than the usual two-piece.

Whichever swimming spot you will choose, you would need to be swimsuit-ready!

Before you surf on actual sea waves, you may want to skim through an ocean of good online options when you are on the lookout for a new suit.

A local brand that has been riding on a whole lot of online support from its beach-combing fans is the City of Vintage. Created by Mac Vengco-Bergantin sometime in 2009, the said brand first ventured into the market by introducing a line that was a mix of casual and party dresses and skirts. But when its creator-designer searched high and low for a well-fitted high-waist swimsuit, she lamented on the slim variety of choices available for women like her.

It was then that she decided to take on the practical issues on a suitable suit, Mac shared: “I want to cater to women who have been on the lookout for swimwear that actually hides more than the usual two-piece. City of Vintage’s new trademark is our high-waist swimsuit which really is hybrid of one and two-piece suits. Being a mom myself, I had other mommies in mind who wanted more coverage but didn’t want to look boring. There’s not much of that product when I started my swimwear line. None that’s affordable, anyway. Most of my family and friends (myself included) are beachcombers. I view swimwear as an essential part of a woman’s closet.”

But since 2009, a lot of things have happened, in favor of swimwear. Earlier this year, even the most luxe of fashion houses sent down through the runways their respective renditions of the look of the moment, the athletic trend. Another trend which has stretched the versatility of the humble suit is by wearing it as a top. What does the City of Vintage say to wearing your bandeau to places other than the beach?

“Definitely, YAY. As long as they layer it with something else and as long as they feel comfortable wearing them, why not? I think with the proper occasion, it will work. The fabric can be a wee bit warm for everyday wear though,” Mac explained.

Worried that these beautiful high-waist swimsuits will never leave your closet? Take courage in the proven fact they are forgiving to almost all body types. Bottom heavy girls can wear high-waist bottoms with ruffled or bright tops. Top-heavy girls can draw attention by wearing solid tops and printed bottoms. Curvy and sporty body shapes can always draw attention to their assets through accessories, colors and patterns.

But all that modest coverage of the navel will not do when you have on a suit that is either too tight or perhaps, one size bigger. Either situations will lead you to wardrobe malfunctions. If a two-piece does not offer perfect solutions in one set—it is a practical choice for you to consider separates. Let your swimsuit showcase your better (if not, best) assets!
