Woman uses fake land title in deal, arrested

-

TWO women were arrested by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group 7 (CIDG) 7 for a case of estafa and falsification of public documents.

Jessica Vasquez, 48, and Amme Elizabeth Sacil, 40, were arrested last Monday for allegedly owing nearly P200,000 and presenting a fake land title to complainant, Ruth Burden.

Vasquez and Sacil declined to comment before the media yesterday on the allegation against them.

Burden alleged that Sacil introduced herself as Leona Ravago and asked if she could borrow money from her as she has a lending business.

Burden said Sacil was introduced by one of her friends in May.

On July 13, Burden lent Sacil P75,000, for a collateral of Sacil’s vehicle, Toyota Tamaraw FX.

By August, Sacil borrowed again more money using a land title as her collateral.

Burden released nearly P150,000.

Earlier this month, Burden went to the Register of Deeds to verify the said land title.

She reportedly found out that the land title presented to her was fake, which led her to seek the CIDG 7’s help.

At 1 p.m. Monday, the operatives conducted an entrapment in one of the malls in the city and arrested Sacil.

Vasquez, on the other hand, was included in the arrest as she was with the suspect who received the entrapment money worth P54,000.

The entrapment money was intended for the entire amount that Sacil wanted to loan.

The two suspects are now detained in the CIDG 7 stockade.
