Flair driven
Beauty only gets better as it trips through time.
That may be the simplest way to put into words the upshot of Gear and Glam 5 as it continued the notably exceptional celebration of timeless beauty at the North- wing of SM City Cebu on Oct. 5.
Car and fashion aficionados alike gathered to pitch in various contribution to make the show, dubbed as “Larger than Life,” hold true to form. Performance and Classic Car Enthusiasts (Pace) showed off another rare collection of luxury cars that lifted gorgeous models strutting original creations of the Fashion Council of Cebu (FCC).
The parade of gears and wears was basically inspired by an assortment of famous films from the ‘40s to the present time.
Philip Rodriguez portrayed the ‘40s via a sleek black dress with a sensual neckline covered with beads and gems. Arcy Gayatin’s take on the ‘50s was seen through a white collared and buttoned blouse sheer on top of a black ball skirt. Philipp Tampus depicted the ‘60s by a tandem of white male trench coat over white slacks and beige corset dress. Cary Santiago’s definition of the ‘70s was a black dress—that seemed to be most sensual—with knotty works, exposed hips and rumpled skirt.
Grooming for the groovy ‘80s, Albert Arriba designed a drape skirt and tank top totally covered with brown buttons inside a gleaming, tiered jacket. Yvonne Quisumbing crafted a black top flaunting a deep plunging neckline, flowing capelike element, paired with metallic silver leggings. Vania Romoff kept her part simply chic through a red spaghetti strap dress, and a corset dress of earth color. Anthony Romoff created muumuu dresses in tangerine and hot pink that marked elegantly modest. Oj Hofer went for tactful wrapping through a black dress with long sleeves, floor sweeping length and slight trail.
At last, to lead the audience back to the modern era, Ditas Rodriguez made a parade of petticoat dresses, one of which was golden with sheer back while the other was black with tiled patterns and feathery neckline. Jun Escario flashed two black and white sensations, one of which featured a deep plunging neck and knotty straps, paired with white loose slacks while the other is an illusion dress with intertwined neck design.
Gear and Glam 5 surely did not disappoint as it successfully sustained the momentum of excitement set by the first four installations. Just when everybody expected more feel of both vintage and modern thrill, neither the Pace nor the FCC failed to exceed all anticipation.
