CMC holds ‘Clean-up Walk’
THE Cordova Multipurpose Cooperative (CMC) capped the Cooperative Month last October with the holding of a “Clean-up Walk” along the main roads of Cordova town from Pilipog Market, which serves as the boundary between Cordova and Lapu-Lapu City, up to the town’s Poblacion.
The clean-up drive was in line with this year’s theme, “Transformative Cooperatives for People, Planet, Prosperity and Peace.”
Armed with brooms, dust pans, empty sacks and other cleaning tools, the officers, management, staff and other volunteers of the cooperative “attacked” any garbage haphazardly disposed of and left along the way, and deposited these to the waiting garbage truck provided by the municipal government.
The activity, which started at 6 a.m., ended with a short program, with the participation of Cordova Mayor Adelino B. Sitoy, a CMC member.
Sitoy encouraged CMC to maintain its present thrust to benefit more members of the community.
The program included a meal courtesy of Councilor Lemuel W. Pogoy and Tetchie S. Cho. They also got into the groove with the popular Gangnam Style, through the sound system provided by Vice Mayor Rodrigo B. Jumao-as, also a CMC member. Parlor games followed.
After the observance of the Cooperative Month and the drive-up drive, CMC is mapping out more community-based projects for their upcoming anniversary.
