PASIG CITY—The University of the Visayas Baby Lancers star Andres Paul Desiderio received high marks from RP Youth U-16 team coach Jamike Jarin during their first practice yesterday at the Ateneo de Manila University Gym.

Desiderio was in his usual self during the two-hour scrimmage along with the other players, who were tapped by Jarin to try out for the national squad.

“Paul was superb. He proved that he is the best when he literally dominated the scrimmage,” said Jopel Cercado, who accompanied the Lilo-an native to the RP scrimmage. “There is no doubt, he is a show-in to the RP team.”

On his final year as a member of the UV Baby Lancers, Desiderio was animated during the game.

“I just did my usual game. I was enjoying the scrimmage,” Desiderio told Sun.Star-Cebu.

His skills and talents were noticed before he came to the RP team practice.

Desiderio who led the UV Pasarelle team to winning the first-ever SBP U-16 tournament last year, has been scouted by many schools from Manila.

“Honestly, I haven't decided yet. I got offers from the University of the Philippines Maroons and other teams from both the UAAP and NCAA. But still I haven't decided yet. Ako lang usa humanon ang klase. Mograduate lang sa ko sa high school then kana nga time na ko mo decide,” Desiderio added.
