Late vice guv’s son charged
FOR allegedly sniffing shabu inside a drug den, the son of the late Cebu vice governor Gregorio Sanchez Jr. was charged before the Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office yesterday afternoon.
Leodegreco “Greco” Sanchez and his friend, Edward Teves, are facing complaints for violating Article 2, Sections 11 (illegal possession of dangerous drugs) and 12 (illegal possession of paraphernalia) of the Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2004.
During the inquest proceeding conducted by Prosecutor Ruso Zaragoza, the respondents did not avail themselves of their rights to preliminary investigation.
This would mean Sanchez and Teves will post bail and their complaints will be elevated to court for trial.
Arrested
Last Friday night, the two were caught by the police in a house on Tres Borces St. in Sitio Sindulan, Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City.
Seized from them were two plastic bags containing a substance believed to be shabu and other tools in sniffing the banned drug.
Sanchez was tracked by the police, after his sister, Grecilda Sanchez-Zaballero, sought their help.
Rehab
Zaballero wanted to have her brother returned to a drug rehabilitation center, after Leodegreco had been allegedly harassing relatives and employees for money.
She also alleged that Leodegreco had stolen their family yacht with two persons on board and they had taken the craft to the waters off the South Road Properties (SRP).
For his part, Leodegreco denied he was carrying drugs and stole the yacht.
