Queen City, CAFC nab 2nd win

CEBU Queen City United (CQCU) and Cebu Amateur Football Club (CAFC) booked their second win to top their brackets in the 13th Cebu Interclub Football at the Cebu City Sports Center.

Ryan Hemedia had a hat trick to tow CAFC to a 3-0 win over Mactan Camellanz, their second straight after a win over Don Bosco United in the opening day. CAFC leads Group B with two wins, while Mactan Camellanz United suffered its second consecutiv­e loss.

In Group A, CQCU handed Erco FC its first loss, 5-0, with goals from Dan Villarico, Jade Paghubasan, Xamson Olaniyi and Rene Menchavez in the first half. Joseph Rodriguez scored the team’s final goal in the second half.

CQCU tops Group A with two wins, while Erco faltered to a onewin and one-loss record. Today, Erco could have United Football League regulars Chieffy Caligdong and Boogie Margarse in their game against Hijos del Pueblo as they have no games in the Manila.

On the other hand, defending champion Hiroshi FC hit a minor bump after drawing Sam- ba FC, 3-3.

Ashraf scored first for Samba FC but Hiroshi got the lead after goals from Rodney Gandionco, Richard Cañedo and Joshua Fegidero. However, Jibrin Musa banked in a goal in the 87th and got the equalizer two minutes from injury time.

“Nag substitute kami para maka- rest ang players kay grabe man gud ang among schedule, 9:30 a.m. init kaayo,” said Panagsagan.

In Group B, the University of Cebu Nigeria and San Roque Rehab got their first win in.

UC-Nigeria survived DBUFC, 2-1, with strikes from Anthony Zhedioma in the 23rd minute and Benjamin Bekeboh in the 25th minute.

San Roque FC routed Cebu Korea FC, 11-0, with Harry and Ryan Bordalba bagging a hat trick. Albert Tejas had two, while Adrianne and Christian Mejaran and Dan Montaye had one each.

In last Saturday’s 42- category, Kevlar Queen City United- A routed sister team Kevlar Queen City United–B, 9-1 while the second game between Hiroshi FC and KN Ferraren ended in a scoreless draw.
