Post-election rant
Election day was a big day for the youth, as some of them exercised their right to vote for the first time. A week has passed and it is still drawing mixed reactions from the Filipino youth—some expressed disappointment with the delays while others gave their thumbs-up on the whole electoral process. Zup readers share their thoughts on the May 13 polls.
It was such a hassle! I didn’t know the lines would be that long. As a first-time voter, I had high expectations, especially on the voting location. I thought it would be very spacious and organized, but it turned out to be the opposite. There were also problems with the CF cards and the PCOS machines. I wasn’t satisfied with the national results either. I wish Filipinos could choose better candidates next time.

The electoral process has always been the same since time immemorial except for the introduction of PCOS machines. For me, PCOS machines are effective and efficient despite some flaws experienced in other places. It can deliver results faster, and there’s lesser chance of data modification… As for the results, I can’t help but feel frustrated. Elections are still a popularity game.

It was my first time to vote and it went very okay. I went to my voting precinct at 7 a.m. so I didn’t have to wait in line for a long time. The PCOS machine didn’t have any problems. All in all, the election process was good. The only frustrating thing for me was the result, specifically for the senators and the mayor in Manila… I just hope the winners can prove their worth.

I was very satisfied with my experience as a first-time voter. I voted in my hometown, Cagayan de Oro City, and I must say it was organized. Police were around to keep the election process peaceful… I honestly expected it to be stressful and rowdy. As for the results of the election, I am very happy for the local scene because majority did not vote for the ruling dynasty. I hope it will be a change for the better. However, the national results were kind of disappointing.
