Sleeping with the enemy or just being friendly

-

AMERICAN politician William Clay once said that in politics, there are no permanent friends and enemies, only permanent interests. A politician who won in the May 13 elections under the Bando Osmeña Pundok Kauswagan ( BOPK) ticket gives a recent example.

This politician was BOPK’s lawyer when the group filed an election protest against rival Team Rama. But why is this comebacking politician seen having drinks with the close advisers of Team Rama? Their pictures were posted on Facebook.

Bzzzzz is not sure if the politician was consulted before the post was made, but if the BOPK member is concerned about what his group will say about his loyalty, he should have the photos removed, and pray that all those who saw the images have short- term memory.

Before election winners were announced, the campaign manager of Team Rama declared that the politician is “easy to talk to.”

Oozing with confidence

This veteran politician was so confident of his victory in the May 13 elections that he did not campaign for himself in sorties. Instead, he urged constituents to vote for four senators he was endorsing, and even candidates in other local government units.

It was no surprise then that when he lost, he cried fraud and filed an election protest. The PCOS ( Precinct Count Optical Scan) machines, he said, can be manipulated if the price is right. He said manual counting of votes is better.

This is the same veteran politician who, when he was proclaimed winner in another elective post in 2010, declared that the PCOS machines were as safe as Fort Knox.

Enterprising school official

Some sectors have criticized the head of a government- owned college in southern Cebu, who is also an official of a state- owned school in a highly urbanized city.

An upset bee told Bzzzzz that this school official is just too enterprising. “Pamugasay na man nang iya. Unsaon man na niya pagatiman sa trabahoon sa duha ka eskuylahan?” he grumbled.

The bee could not help but remember that such was the school official’s revenue-oriented outlook that he was earlier accused of collecting money from students and failing to turn over the funds to the local government unit concerned.
