CCCI, Jaycees to honor young business leaders
IN CELEBRATION of its 110th year, the Cebu Chamber of Commerce Inc. is looking for young and accomplished Cebuano business leaders.
The Outstanding Business Young Leaders (TOBYL) is the first search of its kind by the CCCI, together with the Cebu Jaycees Inc.
The search is open to Cebu residents 18 to 40 years old who have started a business in the last three years or held the position of managing director or its equivalent in a company engaged in information and communications technology, tourism, SME development, business products and services, energy, health sciences, manufacturing, financial services, wholesale and retail, real estate or construction, and agri-business.
TOBYL chairman Anastacio Muntuerto Jr. said the acronym TOBYL is also a play on the Cebuano word “tubil”, which means to “fuel up.” He said the search will position Cebu as a place with a pool of competent young business leaders who will continue to “fuel up” business activities in the province.
CCCI members said during the press conference that those who will be hailed as the outstanding business youth leaders will be granted a scholarship program to study for a master’s degree in business administration in selected universities in Cebu.
Cebu Jaycees Inc president Kenneth Migriño said what really matters in the competition is the recognition of the young Cebuanos who are doing very well in business.
He observed that the youth today are “very active in business” and that there don’t seem to be enough programs to recognize their achievements.
The deadline for applications will be on Oct. 30, while the awarding will be on Nov. 15.
