‘Jealous lover’ vents anger on police car in Mandaue

-

POLICE are looking for a 21-year-old man who fled after destroying the windshields of a police patrol vehicle and another one owned by a police officer in Barangay Opao, Mandaue City last Saturday.

Rey Charlon, a jobless resident of Sitio Sampaguita, Barangay Opao, was drunk when he smashed the windshields at 12:30 a.m., said SPO2 Juan Calamba, desk officer at Opao Police Station and owner of the one of the vehicles.

Calamba said the vehicles were parked in front of the barangay gym, 50 meters from the Opao Police Station.

Before the incident, Charlon had a drinking session with his girlfriend and the latter’s former live-in partner near the gym.

“Murag nagselos ni siya. Nananghid nga mupalit og sigarilyo unya mao na to, namuak na siya (He might have gotten jealous. He excused himself to buy a cigarette and then destroyed the windshields),” Calamba said.

Charlon punched the front windshield and broke a side mirror of the police patrol vehicle. He threw a rock at the front windshield of Calamba’s Kia Sephia vehicle and shattered the rear windshield with a clay pot.

Personnel from the Opao Police Station and Special and Weapons Tactics chased Charlon but he evaded arrest. Calamba said he rode a taxi with the help of his sister’s livein partner.

Police went to the house of Chalon’s parents in Barangay Bankal, LapuLapu City but he was not there. His parents assured they will turn him over to the police if he went to their house.

Calamba said Charlon was detained at the Opao Police Station last year after allegedly stealing metals from a university. He was released when his parents and the complainant reached a compromise.

Calamba said charges of malicious mischief will be filed against Charlon tomorrow.
