Sipalay to TCC: Choose a committed leader

Board to deliberate intention of JVR to serve as acting president

-

TALISAY City Legal Officer Alfredo Sipalay urged the board of trustees of the Talisay City College (TCC) to choose an acting president who will commit to his/her school duties and responsibilities.

Sipalay made the statement following the sudden resignation of Dr. Ester Velasquez as TCC acting president.

In an interview, Sipalay noticed that those who were appointed, including Velasquez, would not stay long in the post.

Dr. Joseph Sol Galleon also resigned a week after serving as TCC acting president.

Galleon, who is the assistant dean of the Cebu Normal University, resigned from his post, cit- ing health reasons.

Sipalay said that if the board of trustees will appoint someone who is not committed to serve TCC, it could affect the school, particularly the students.

Last week, a group of fourth year education students held a silent protest outside the City Hall.

The students claimed that they were not allowed to undergo practicum because their papers were not approved by Velasquez, who reportedly had not appeared in the school since her appointment last June 27.

Mayor Johnny de los Reyes volunteered to sit as acting president but his decision has to be discussed by the board yet.
