Catapang is new chief of AFP

MANILA — Lt. Gen. Gregorio Pio P. Catapang was appointed yesterday to replace outgoing Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Emmanuel T. Bautista who is scheduled to retire on July 18.

Prior to his appointment as AFP chief, Catapang is the vice chief of staff, a position he held since May.

He is a member of Philippine Military Academy (PMA) ‘Dimalupig’ Class 1981.
