Norman’s wines and a dinner celebration
thescene
When the chief executive officers of the Great White Shark Ltd arrived in Cebu, who else but local wine connoisseur Margie Richards-Taylor welcomed them! After all, the top honcho was none other than son-in-law, American, top golfer and golf course designer Greg Norman.
Greg’s business empire includes, among others, a golf course design company, eye wear, real estate and incidentally, wines. And Margie happens to be the proprietress of a wine shop in Cebu, Bibendum, so it had to follow that her company became the exclusive distributor of Norman’s Wines in these parts.
A weekend cocktail bash was planned in Margie’s residence, catered by Cafe Laguna, to which this burg’s top golfers and wine enthusiasts were special guests.
Aside from the executives of the Great White Shark, Greg also tagged along his son, the ruggedly handsome,
Greg Jr., Sighhh!
*** An invitation in Tagalog read: “Nais
kayong kumbidahin ni G. Hans Hauri, general manager ng Marco Polo Plaza Hotel Cebu, sa isang hapunan bilang pagdiriwang ng ika- 116 taon ng kalayaan ng Pilipinas.” In English, read as an invitation to a dinner Comida de Independencia, commemorating the 116th anniversary of Philippine Independence, at Marco Polo Plaza Hotel. Host was Hans Hauri, hotel general manager.
With this kind of national lingo, expect that the attire would be Barong Tagalog for the men, and Filipiniana for the ladies.
Lording it over the sumptuous spread was the hotel’s favorite Cebuano cuisine consultant, Jessica Avila, who has been amazingly innovating these kind of delicacies for more than seven years now. Part of the evening’s attraction was the hand-rolling technique of Los Primos Cigars which was done by a lady expert.
Of course, the event was not without its share of fashionistas who strutted their stuff: Maitina Borromeo, Jenny
Franco and daughter, Maya, Jessica Avila herself, and the stunning beauties of the hotel’s PR department, Kiera, Mia Ali and Manna. Flaunt it, girls!
