Woman in Babag killed by lightning?

-

A WOMAN died after she was allegedly struck by lightning in Barangay Babag, Cebu City.

The body of Angelita Jacaban Mabini, 42, was discovered by her mother Cherilina yesterday dawn.

Angelita was reportedly missing since Thursday afternoon after she went out in the field. Angelina grew flowers for a living.

PO1 John Samosa of Homicide Section told Sun.Star Cebu that on Thursday evening, Cherilina along with Angelita’s brother, Edgar, went looking for Angelita.

But they could not find her. The next day, they continued searching for Angelita until they found her under a tree a few meters from their house.

Angelita’s body was found at 4 a.m. yesterday.

Samosa said they suspected Angelita was hit by lightning after they found burns in her body.

Samosa said the family of Angelita agreed to have her body autopsied to determine the cause of her death.

Meanwhile, the Homicide Section and the Theft and Robbers Section arrested a suspect in the killing of a 63-year-old man.

The man was found dead inside his shanty in Barangay Malubog early this week.

Teodoro Gabunada was reportedly the one who allegedly killed Demetrio Culisar, 63.

Culisar was found dead last Tuesday with a wound on his head. A bloodstained axe was found near the body.

The suspect and the victim were neighbors.

At first, police thought robbers killed Culisar after a motorcycle parked outside his house was missing.

But last Thursday, Orlando Bontilao, a friend of Gabunada, reported the incident to the TRS.

Bonitalao, who is speech impaired, was accompanied by his sister, who interpreted his actions to the police.

Bontilao said he saw Gabunada killed Culisar.

The TRS thought the culprits were robbers.

Bontilao said that last Monday evening, he went with the suspect to Culisar’s house.

He said that when they arrived there, he was surprised to see Gabunada hitting the victim’s head with an axe.

Gabunada told him to hide the motorcycle in the woods.

TRS Chief David Señor said that based on their investigation, Gabunada planned the incident. The suspect was reportedly mad because he had an illicit affair with his neighbor and Culisar knew about it.

Gabunada denied the allegation.
