Worker tries to resist but was shot; victim names 2 suspects

One suspect is a security guard who knew that the victim was carrying money for their salary while the other is a former employee of the Joma Tech Tire Corp.

AN employee, who was bringing cash for the salary of his co-workers, was wounded after he was shot and robbed by two unidentifi­ed men in Barangay Kamputhaw, Cebu City last Saturday morning.

Puno sustained a gunshot on his chin after two armed men shot him and took away some P50,000 cash placed inside his bag.

The cash was reportedly intended for his coworkers’ salaries.

Puno works in Joma Tech Tire Corp., a sister company of the Richmond Hotel.

The incident happened at 10:55 a.m. on Don F. Sotto Drive, Barangay Kamputhaw, near Richmond Hotel.

Every month, Puno reportedly gets their salary in the hotel.

He said that last Saturday, he noticed two men followed him when he went outside the hotel carrying the cash.

Then the two unidentifi­ed men, who were wearing black jackets and balaclavas, approached him and grabbed his bag.

When Puno resisted, the robbers shot him.

After the incident, the suspects fled towards Gorordo Ave., while witnesses took Puno to the hospital.

TRS Chief David Señor said Puno named two possible suspects. One is reportedly a security guard, who knows that Puno was about to get their salary, the other is reportedly a former employee of the Joma Tech Tire Corp.

Señor said they are still investigat­ing the incident.

Police are also checking if any security camera near the area could have recorded the incident.
