Lexmark, Accenture win Goal for Jacob

LEXMARK and Accenture walked out winners in the one-day football fundraiser, “Goal for Jacob”, yesterday at the Cebu Internatio­nal School football pitch.

Lexmark handily beat Leylam B, 3-1, for the Men’s division crown, while Accenture edged out Eperformax, 1-0, for the Women’s division diadem.

Lexmark was a force to be reckoned with in the whole tournament, finishing with an impressive unbeaten slate. Lexmark topped Group C with 12 points from an unbeaten 4-0 slate. Lexmark edged out Thirsty, 2-1, in the quarter finals and Leylam A, 2-1, in the semi-finals before beating Leylam B.

San Miguel A beat Leylam A, 3-2, for third place in the Men’s division, while Lexmark defeated Mitsumi, 1-0, also for third place in the Women’s category.

Arsene Lisson Ngang Som of Lexmark grabbed the Golden Ball, while his teammates Bonn Clark Rivera and John Paul Casipong were awarded with the Golden Boot and the Golden Gloves respective­ly. San Miguel A’s JM Pelanio was named the Best Defender in the Men’s division.

On the other hand, in the Women’s division Accenture’s Apple Bariñan and Sheila Ortiz grabbed the Golden Ball and Golden Boot respective­ly. Eperfor- max’s Pat Muertegui go the Golden Gloves, while teammate Vanessa Mondero was the Best Defender.

The football event was organized by Leylam FC to help raise funds for the surgery of baby Jacob, who is suffering from a congenital deformity called club foot or talipes equinovaru­s in medical terms.

Baby Jacob, whose parents work at Leylam Shawarma, needs P200,000 for his operation.

According to one of the organizers, Oliver “BingBing” Colina, they were able to raise funds through the registrati­on fee of the 22 teams that competed in the tournament.
