Police to examine gadgets to look for porn materials

-

THE Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) 7 will conduct a digital forensic examination on some devices seized from an Internet shop owner in Barangay Tejero, Cebu City on suspicions that the suspect is running a cyberporn business.

Supt. Fermin Armendarez III of CIDG 7 said they confiscated the devices, such as laptop and computer unit, using a search warrant against Nathalie Mendiola.

The family of a tenyear-old girl filed a complaint before Cebu City Police Office’s Women and Children Protection Desk that Mendiola took nude photos of the girl.

CIDG 7 served last Monday night the search warrant issued by Judge Manuel Patalinghug against Mendiola in her three-storey house.

“Wala siya gidakop kay walay evidence nga nakita didto, like nude photos (We didn’t have evidence to arrest her),” Armendarez said.

Bathroom

When interviewed by reporters yesterday, the girl said she was asked by Mendiola to clean herself in the bathroom because she looked dirty.

While she was naked, Mendiola took photos of her.

“Giingnan ko niya ayaw saba sa lain. Atoa ra ni (She told me not to tell others about it and that it was our secret),” the girl said.

The girl said Mendiola gave her P500.

Complaints

In a separate interview, Tejero Barangay Captain Jessielou Cadungog said she received complaints against Mendiola twice already on the alleged illegal activity.

“Atong mga silingan nahibong nga naay income. Showy pagpatukod og balay three-storey. Karon naa na pud gitukod nga dorm (Her neighbors are wondering where she got the money to build a house, and now a dormi- tory),” he said.

On Mendiola’s defense, her mother Erlinda denied they are engaged in an illegal business.

Legal

“Dili na tinuod nga naay hubo-hubo. Ang among panginabuhi legal tanan (It’s not true),” she said.

Erlinda said the girl’s father, a carpenter, may be having ill-feelings towards her daughter.

Mendiola’s niece Jonalyn also said neighbors falsely accused her aunt.

The CIDG 7 will ask the Anti-Cybercrime Group Visayas to conduct the examination once approved by the court, Armendarez said.
