Gotta get this off my chest

- JINGO QUIJANO

ALL this non-announcement about a non-fight is wreaking havoc on my overly caffeinated brain. So much so that last Monday, when confronted with the sudden departure of a boxing trainer, I had to ask Cebu's resident MMA mogul Renault Lao to don the mitts and so we could do some pad work and I could let off some steam.

I felt better that night thanks to Renault and Markman Yap but today, I'm back to being asmarmy wreck.

Guys, please indulge me, but I gotta get this off my chest. So without further ado, here's a ringside seat to Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr.

ROUND 1. Manny starts off fast, unleashing flurries that has Floyd covering up. The crowd roars in approval as Manny easily takes Round 1.

ROUNDS 2 and 3. Manny picks up where he left off but Floyd seems intent on preventing that a fight will happen. Much like the Maidana fight, he clinches and hugs his opponent whenever the opportunity arises.

ROUNDS 4 and 5. Floyd finds success with his lead right hand and this time, Manny backs up.“Money May” starts getting confident and takes control of the center of the ring, posing and preening like a popinjay.

ROUND 6. Manny comes alive and lands a crisp right hook on Floyd's temple causing the latter to stumble backwards, not unlike the ZabJudah fight wherein he also got clipped by southpaw Judah's hook and had to lean on the canvas with his left hand to keep his balance.

This time though, the momentum carries him backward into the ropes and the ref correctly rules it a knockdown. Pandemonium breaks loose as the crowd is on its feet; Floyd smirks and shakes his head in disagreement, while Manny stoically looks on.

The action resumes with Floyd clinching Manny to stifle his offense.

ROUNDS 7 to 8. Floyd's excellent boxing abilities win him the middle rounds as he lands several hard, stinging jabs, and bloodies Pacquiao's nose.

ROUND 9. Pacquiao rallies, landing more flurries as he manages to trap Floyd in the corner on two occasions. As the bell rings, Floyd shakes his head as if to say he wasn't hurt, but his knees wobble.

ROUND 10. Floyd attempts to regain control of the fight by keeping the action in the center of the ring, but Pacquiao's offbeat and unorthodox combinations are now finding their mark.

ROUND 11. Both fighters meet in the center of the ring and Floyd rediscovers that snappy rhythm to his jab. Manny shifts to a body attack but a second later Floyd is seen grimacing in pain gesturing that a shot to the family jewels has landed.

The ref steps in and gives him a breather but the television replays do not seem to bear out Floyd's claim.

When action resumes, it is Manny who seems to have benefited from the lull as he unleashes a blazing combination that snaps Floyd's head back.

Then it happens. Call it luck—bad for Floyd, good for Manny- or perhaps the law on averages finally catching up on Floyd but this one time, his vaunted shoulder -roll defense fails him.

After all, it was conceived to be at its best against an orthodox fighter but not against a southpaw, whose strong hand-the-left- has a wide, open angle to the more vulnerable right side.

Manny's left hook crashes on Floyd's jaw, just as the latter momentarily lowers his right hand.

The timing is impeccable, the impact devastating. Floyd crumples like he's been shot.

The crowd goes wild as Floyd is on his knees and feebly trie s to hang on to the ropes, but is unable to beat the count. Manny wins via KO in the 11th round.

LAST ROUND. It's on my favorite southpaw of all time (sorry Manny, it's not you) - my lovely wife, Hon. Judge Charina Navarro Quijano, who celebrates her birthday this week. Cheers!
