CIDG 7 to help find person who uploaded clash video

-

THE Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) 7 will help track down the person who uploaded the videos of the carnage of Special Action Force (SAF) commandos in Mamasapano, Maguindanao.

Supt. Fermin Armendarez III of CIDG 7 said they are now verifying reports that a former tabloid journalist uploaded the video to his Facebook page.

Armendarez also said they are trying to identify who uploaded the video in the hope that it would lead them to identify the armed men.

Warning

Armendarez also warned vendors that selling optical discs or DVDs containing the videos of the Jan. 25 encounter that left many troopers killed could be charged with violating Article 201 of the Revised Penal Code for obscene publications.

Armendarez said they have already directed their agents to look into stores that sell DVDs containing the viral videos. Once police gets proof that these stores are selling copies of the videos, they will conduct an operation to confiscate these.

Content

The videos were first uploaded to Youtube, but have been taken down following complaints of viewers on the gruesome killing of some SAF commandos.

One of it is a six-minute video of a SAF member being shot in close range. The footage showed a wounded PO1 Joseph Sagonoy of 55th SAF Company who was twitching in pain before being killed.

The Mamasapano gun battle between government forces and rebels from Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) left 44 SAF troopers killed.

The elite commandos were implementing a warrant of arrest against Zulkifli bin Hir, also known as Marwan, an international wanted terrorist for being a bomb expert.
