Platters serenade Cebuano fans

- BY MONICA R. LOPEZ

Music has always been a staple when it comes to the season of love, and no Valentine’s celebration would be complete without listening to romantic songs that tell tales of the heart and soul.

Last Sunday at the Gallery of Ayala Center Cebu was a day to remember as The World Famous Platters serenaded their Cebuano fans. The vocal group, consisting of Eddie Stovall Jr. together with Hunter Lorenzo, Jerome Kirk Dabney, Frederick Berry and Deneen Davis, captured the hearts of listeners with their sweet-sounding voices as they sang tracks made popular by the original 1953 group, The Platters.

While most of them have visited the city only once or twice, except for Stovall who’s performed in Cebu three times, they were very excited to hear about their tour to the metropolis. Since they’re always in and out of countries with different climates, they make sure to always hydrate and take lozenges to keep their voices in good condition.

Hits like Only You, My Prayer, The Great Pretender, Remember When and You’ve Got the Magic Touch were performed and with each track, the audience gasped in amazement upon hearing their favorite tunes. When asked what their favorite songs are, it was hard for the group to point out one in particular as they love every song, as anyone who’s been a fan of The Platters can relate.

The vocal group had another gig outside the city that day as well and had to depart but not before saying, “Keep listening to The Platters’ music and keep calling us back. Keep loving us.”

To The World Famous Platters, we say, no need to tell us twice.
