Girl, 6, accuses her pa of rape
A UTILITY worker was arrested last Tuesday afternoon for allegedly raping his six-year-old daughter in Toledo City.
A medical test performed on the girl showed evidence of sexual contact, said Toledo City police chief Supt. Ricky Delelis.
A complaint of rape was filed by the police yesterday against Danny, 35, before the Toledo City Prosecutors Office. Sun. Star Cebu is withholding their names to protect the victim’s identity.
Danny’s arrest came after their neighbors noticed that Lauren, the youngest of three children, kept on crying and complaining of pain in her private part.
Suspecting that the girl was abused, the neighbors sought the help of the city’s social welfare and development office.
Acting on the neighbors’ complaint, a police team went to the suspect’s house in Barangay Poblacion but they did not find the family there, Delelis said.
Danny had already left with his son, while Lauren was nowhere to be found. The children have been in Danny’s custody after he and his wife separated five years ago.
The police officers received a tip on Danny’s whereabouts and saw him in Barangay Sangi past 5 p.m. while waiting for a bus ride.
It was not clear if he was on his way home to Barangay Gen. Climaco or was evading arrest after learning that the police were after him.
The police team then proceeded to the house of Danny’s wife in Barangay Poblacion where they found Lauren, Delelis said.
The girl was brought to the pink room of Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) for examination. The results suggested that she was raped.
When interrogated by police, Danny denied abusing his daughter. But Lauren told police she was raped last Feb. 16.
“Kalima daw siya gihilabtan. Kadaghan napud daw ni nahitabo maoy giingon sa bata (She said that she was raped five times that night and it has happened many times),” Delelis said.
