VETERAN Cebuano musicians Valrock of the Southwings band and rapper MC Rey of the Brownian Method have organized a fundraising concert in honor of the Fallen 44.

Dubbed as “Halad sa 44: Tribute & Fundraising Show for SAF (Special Action Force) Fallen 44,” the event is set on Feb. 24 at the SM Cebu City Event Centre. It is intended to honor the 44 SAF troopers who died in a clash with the separatist groups in Mamasapano, Maguindanao last Jan. 25, as well as to raise funds for their surviving families.

SM City Cebu supported the cause by staging the event inside the mall, while the SM Foundation has been tasked to accept the donations.

The show, which will feature Jay-R Siaboc, Power Trio, Dos Compañeros and many other local talents, will start at 1 p.m. up to past 7 p.m.

The organizers have also invited the families of PO2 Romeo Cempron and PO2 Windel Candano, two of the Fallen 44 who were from Cebu, to grace the show, as well as Senior Supt. Conrado Capa, acting Cebu City Police Office director, who has been asked to deliver a special message.

Mallgoers and the public are invited to support the charity event by making donations at the designated donation counters while enjoying the music.

Donation counters will be put up near the Event Centre, which will receive donations and pledges, until the closing time of the mall.

Aside from SM City Cebu, Roble Shipping, PhilJap and Julie’s Bakeshop have confirmed to support the staging of the event; other benefactors are also sending pledges.

In 2013, Valrock and MC Rey also staged Barug Visayas for the survivors of the Bohol earthquake and typhoon Yolanda.
