Punta Engaño now gets water from MCWD
New water service connection applicants are required to attend the free orientation seminar held every Wednesday and Saturday at the MCWD main building in Cebu City
AFTER more than 10 years of not having affordable and potable water, residents of Barangay Punta Engaño in Lapu-lapu City can now enjoy the services of the Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD).
The water district is now starting to accept water connection applications from residents of the said barangay after the water supply from Cebu Manila Water Development Corp. Inc. (CMWD) was commissioned on Jan. 5.
CMWD taps the Luyang River in Carmen town as its source. It will supply 18,000 cubic meters of water to MCWD for this year and will increase to 35,000 cubic meters next year up to the next 19 years.
The supply is expected to help the water district meet the growing demand of Metro Cebu.
The installation of water service connections in Punta Engaño was suspended years ago due to lack of water supply. Residents in the area utilized their own deep and artesian wells or bought water from neighbors who had MCWD connections.
Engr. Joselito Vidal, Processing and Installation Division manager, said they will coordinate with the barangay captain to inform residents that MCWD can now serve the barangay.
New water service connection applicants are required to attend the free orientation seminar held every Wednesday and Saturday at the MCWD main building in Cebu City.
But Vidal said MCWD may hold an orientation seminar in Punta Engaño for the convenience of the residents who want to apply for a connection.
