Lovely Locks
Prom or formally known as promenade, is one of the most important events for teenagers. The affair symbolizes a coming of age ceremony signifying the approaching conclusion of their high school lives before experiencing adult-like responsibilities as they head off to college or wherever their dreams will take them.
As the times continue to change, proms grow more extravagant—and so has the fashion. Whether the style was inspired from a torn up page of a magazine or from a young celebrity’s red carpet look founded on the Internet, young women have a broad knowledge about fashion, makeup and hair. They know what look they want for the night from head to toe.
Hair and makeup artist Ryle Young detects the change over the years. There are some that even revive the oldies but with a modern twist. “There’s already a theme, unlike before. Aside from that, teenagers these days already know what they want. They’ve already decided what
looks good for them,” she said. Since the late ‘90s, she has actively dabbled in the field for occasions like weddings and proms among other affairs.
For this season, Ryle has come up with some trendy hair styles suitable for every teenager for prom night. When it comes to events that center on teens, she always makes sure to create a youthful look as much as possible while still looking timeless, especially with a girl’s hair. How a lady’s locks are styled could make or break the ensemble. As dramatic as that sounds, the wrong look could lead to dissatisfactory results and might even be dubbed as a fashion faux pas.
Even the neckline of the dress is important because according to Ryle, some hairdos however chic, might not be able to accentuate the features because of the wrong choice of style, so it’s best to coordinate in order to fully capture the perfect visage. Hair accessories are a great addition as well if the desire is to bejewel the mane with diamonds glued to hair pins, vintage rhinestone hair combs or whatever gives it a sparkle, just as long as it doesn’t overshadow or overdo the style. The main thing to keep in mind always is to choose the hairstyle that best fits one’s age, personality and fashion sense. After all that, what’s left is to enjoy prom, make the most of it with friends and let one’s hair down, metaphorically speaking.
