A 42-YEAR-OLD woman arrested last month for allegedly trying to sneak illegal drugs into jail was caught carrying several sachets of suspected shabu inside a court in Lapu-Lapu City yesterday morning, police said.

Jinky Muana, who was out on bail, walked into the Regional Trial Court Branch 53 of the LapuLapu City Hall of Justice around 10:15 a.m. bringing a plastic bag containing a small chewing gum canister, two packs of noodles and other goods.

Suspect’s story

As she walked toward the seats, the canister fell from the plastic bag and several small sachets of suspected shabu fell out from the container, PO3 Joseph Nuñez said.

Nuñez, who was escorting a detainee scheduled for a court hearing, saw the illegal drugs which Muana, a resident of Sitio Sangi, Barangay Pajo, Lapu-Lapu City, scrambled to pick up.

He arrested the wom- an and confiscated 36 small sachets of suspected shabu worth P16,000.

Muana told reporters that someone handed her the plastic bag and that she did not know there were illegal drugs inside it. She did not eleborate.

Muana’s earlier version of the story, Nuñez said, was that she was bringing food for her live-in parter Ricardo Linao who was in jail for drug charges.

New charges

She was to ask a detainee who was in the court to deliver the food to him.

Muana will be charged yet again for violating Re- public Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Parilla said he will recommend to the administrators of the Lapu-Lapu City Hall of Justice to implement stricter security checks.

He also urged jail officers to conduct body search of inmates as soon as they arrive in jail from their hearing.
