SOME 400 players from Cebu and other parts of the country will be treated to the grandest edition of Alta Vista Golf and Country Club’s View Invitational starting this Thursday, aside from its signature picturesque view.

The annual tournament, which started last 1999, will have its biggest edition in 16 years as it has partnered with the MLanders Asia Management Services Inc. for this year.

The four-day and 36-hole tournament also attracted 35 players from Malaysia.

During the press conference yesterday, AVGCC general manager told reporters that aside from the local players, they also have guests from Dumaguete, Bacolod, Iloilo, Cagayan de Oro City, Iligan, Davao, and Manila.

“We also have 35 golfers coming from Sabah Malaysia, Japanese golfers and Koreans,” he said.

The Wack Wack Golf and Country Club, Cebu County Club, Mactan Island Golf Club and Club Filipino de Cebu are among the clubs that have members playing on the tournament.

Quiñones, who is also an avid golfer, was joined by AVGCC’s Engr. Willie Go, Vince Collina, Vicente Go, and club treasurer and golf chairman Ramon Sebastian during the press conference.

The tournament will be using the Modified Stableford Scoring System and will also give out a specially-made plaque by San Gabriel Metal Arts to the winners.

Quiñones said that the raffle prizes will range to more than P800,000 and they have allocated almost P2.5M for the tournament, excluding the support given by the sponsors.

“This year’s View Invitational is one of the biggest in 16 years we’ve had,” Quiñones said.

The registration for the tournament is open until tomorrow. Registration fee is at P4,000 per player inclusive of giveaways, raffle tickets and a dinner during the awarding.

Quiñones said that their giveaways alone is already worth more than the P4,000 registration fee.

Aside from that, they will also give out a brand new Foton Thunder 4 x 2 pick-up for anyone who scores an ace on Hole 15.

The lucky golfer will also bring home a a Club Car golf cart, an Atmospheric Water Generator from San Gabriel Metal Arts, and a trip ticket from Marist Royal Holidays Travel and Tours for an ace in the long par-3 hole.

On hole No.8, Air Busan will give a round trip ticket to Korea for a hole-in-one. Other prizes are an Haojue Motorcycle from Norkis Trading and first bet coupons from Pagcor are the other prizes for the hole-in-one.
