Silkair and Singapore Airlines perfect holiday

- MILA C. ESPINA

Singapore has always been one of my favorite destinations. It is clean, peaceful, accessible and touristfriendly. I have been there for perhaps eight times or more, and every visit was worth the time and fare. The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry

(CCCI) led by past presidents Sam Chioson, Francis Monera and Edward Gaisano had a fruitful travel and business matching in Singapore. I remember, when Silkair was launched decades ago, Charles Lim engaged the University of San Jose-Recoletos’ then Dramatics and Cultural Ensemble to perform at the Orchard Hotel. During the years when Ambassador Francisco Benedicto was assigned in Singapore, we performed at the Chinggay

Festival and the Filipino community. He also arranged a seminar with the business-civic groups (was it a Rotary function?), where I spoke about education and tourism. Several media fam-tours were held in Singapore where the lifestyle writers were treated well. With the help of my friend

Nelia Neri, the Singapore Tourism Board supported the CCCI Tourism Congress 2013.

My Diary is filled with happy memories about Singapore.
