Nadine Lustre recalls meeting Kathryn Bernardo
MANILA—Nadine Lustre believes she made the right decision to meet Kathryn Bernardo.
The two Kapamilya actresses, who are constantly pitted against each other, recently appeared on weekend concert program ASAP.
“Before mag block for the opening, sabi ko kay (stylist) Bang (Pineda), ‘Can you introduce me to Kat?’ Para matanggal na din yung awkwardness, kasi wala naman talagang problema sa amin. Walang negative tension toward each other. Talagang napapangunahan lang talaga,” she said in a Cinema News interview aired over the weekend.
Lustre recalled that she approached the Pangako Sa ‘Yo actress and introduced herself.
Lustre said it’s important to her that the meeting finally took place to dispel speculations of tension between them. She’s also honored to be compared to Bernardo and the latter’s love team with Daniel Padilla.
Lustre said she and leading man James Reid look up to the two. “It’s nice to be compared to them kasi kami, we’re still starting in the industry,” she said.
Reid added: “One year pa lang kami and to come this far and be compared to them, that’s a big thing already. We’re also fans.”
He also confirmed Padilla’s statement on Thursday that they’re friends and bumped into each other at several showbiz events. “I met him a few times na. I say hi every time I see them,” Reid said.
Lustre and Reid agreed to just ignore the haters and bashers who keep on comparing the two love teams.
“There’s really no competition. Siguro meron pero healthy competition. Walang grudge or negativity coming from us. Wala talaga,” the actress said.
Reid said, “I try not to mind it—all the negative comments and the bashers.”
