Brilliant Metal offers P20M system for Cebu City hospital
AS SOON as the new building for the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) rises, it will be furnished with P20 million worth of medical equipment from a private company.
Dr. Edward Dampor Sr., owner of Brilliant Metal Craft (BMC) and Machine Design, committed to install a centralized medical gas pipeline system at the CCMC for free.
"Just finish building the new hospital and we will give them the machine," Dampor said yesterday as he introduced the system to the Cebu City Government and the media through a presentation at the Radisson Blu Hotel.
The new system will have an oxygen generator that will replace traditional oxygen cylinders and can fill up an equivalent of 50 cylinders of oxygen.
The produced oxygen is also described as safe with a 93-percent purity.
Dampor said BMC won't turn over the system to the CCMC just yet because transferring it will be costly.
CCMC operations are currently held at the Bu- reau of Fire Protection compound until its building will be completed.
He said he will donate the system to help indigent Cebuanos.
Though he approves, Mayor Michael Rama said that the donation needs to go through the Cebu City Council for approval.
"We are really hoping that all hospitals will use this new innovation in terms of technology because it is safer," Dampor also said.
The Visayas Community Medical Center (VCMC) is the lone hospital in Cebu with a centralized medical gas pipeline system.
CCMC Medical Director Eli Belarmino said that the oxygen generator will be advantageous to them since supply of oxygen is assured and its cost has been reduced to 50 percent.
Aside from oxygen generator, BMC also plans to give CCMC a shredding machine the company invented that will be used to dispose of hospital wastes like needles, syringes, blades and vials, among others.
