Streetscape: a new place to hang out
JESSICA and Carla Go long planned to bring a new dining and lifestyle concept to Cebu.
After acquiring the 4,000 square meter lot in Paseo Saturnino, Ma. Luisa Road, Banilad, the mother and daughter tandem built Streetscape, a two-storey commercial strip that offers new concepts in food, health and wellness, learning and convenience stores.
“We just wanted to build a place where families and friends can hangout and be happy. We wanted to try out and offer something new to Cebuanos,” said Carla, the director of operations at Streetscape Development Corp.
Before they opened Streetscape, Carla said her mother Jessica kept herself busy with her real estate business Jedca Development Corp. for 20 years. However, their family’s main business is in oil manufacturing.
“This is really far from the family’s core business but we also believe that with so many projects going on in the city, we deserve a new place to hangout that is highly accessible and away from traffic,” she said.
Streetscape was officially launched Tuesday. The neighborhood commercial development which has 35 units are now occupied by 20 tenants, of which 13 have already started commercial operations.
By August, Carla expects all stores to be fully operational.
Asked if there are plans to develop a similar concept in other areas in Cebu, Carla said they will first focus on developing and marketing Streetscape. She disclosed though that the family has properties that they can convert into residential or commerical projects, depending on market demand.
The commercial strip houses La Nostra Pizzeria Napoletana, the first certified Neopolitan pizza in the Philippines; the Echostore, a farm to table franchise from Manila that offers organic and natural food and products; Gorliz Bar and Grill, a Spanish tapas and wine bar; Wok’d, a restaurant that serves fast and delicious Thai cuisine; Delistar, a Korean noodle-in-a-box concept; Washoku-J, an authentic Japanese restaurant; Gibbs’ Hot Wings that serves spicy chicken wings; Melh and Zucker, a European bakery that serves artisanal breads; Gelatissimo Cafe, the first of its kind in the Philippines that serves cakes and pastries and Vanille Bistro that is known for its French macarons.
On the health and wellness segment, Streetscape has tenants like Fitness Nation, Clique Hair and Nail Salon, Beauty and Beyond and Nuat Thai. Other tenants also include Rose Pharmacy, Peso Store, and Japanese convenience store Family Art as well as Henry Ahn Photography Studio, EJ2 Study and Learning Center and MLanders, a showroom for American oil and gas company, Neo-Oil.
