SHOUT OUT FADDISH

- By Jadis Quijada Email/ Facebook: jadis.mallrover@gmail.com Instagram ID: Kawamuy

I finally bit the bullet. I went to a Healthy Options store and got myself something. For most of you, such an idea would have been nothing out of the ordinary. But this is big progress for me- a sworn lazy label reader and all around uncaring consumer when it comes to a product’s health benefits. Well, I fell short of my first mission as I did not get the detox pills that my friend has been dying to have me try. I did walk away with a pound of Aztec Secret Indian

Healing Clay. If this product is alien to you, then you must have not been following beauty blogs. Of which, many have become my closet obsessions. Anyway, this Aztec clay mask has been getting a whole lot of praise. Many people with acne have this to thank for their clearer skin. As for those lucky to be without acne issues, the product works on an effective deep cleanse on the face. I have yet to unbox mine but I am happy to share the news (at least to me, it’s new) that you do not have to have this precious clay shipped over from the States, they are stocked aplenty in Healthy Options and for a very good price too, at P429. Now, I cannot wait for local beauty counters to have a supply of dry shampoo (Batiste, if you will).

Comfit Feet

Save for the quarterly splurge on so-called H.G. (Holy Grail) items, I can be quite stubborn with the rest of the world of fads. I seriously do not have the energy to expend in keeping up with them. But in case of doubt, I can always count on my baby sister for clarifications. After blowing major dough last year chasing one mannish slide design after another, I finally convinced her that our wide feet were no match for said trend. This summer, I am glad she went to her old favorites, colorful thongs and jelly ballerina slippers. I no longer envy Thailand for being home to Jelly Bunny as they are now imported to Rustan’s Cebu. But since most of the Tom’s pairs I see are those closed-shoe designs, I make sure to hunt a pair or two of their canvas thong sandals when I’m out of the country- at least I have that going for me in the

pasalubong game.

Slip-ons, however, are a neglected part of my personal shoe spectrum. I want to spice up my slim pickings. This interest, as you with a shoe fetish may know, has a lot to do with the popular derivatives of the famous Chanel espadrilles that are everywhere. Sigh, a pair of those canvas shoes can cost as much as last season’s Louboutins, did you check? This is why I am always on the lookout for an alternative pair from a more attainable brand. Now, you may see these slip-ons on stock in TopShop or

Forever 21. But since Comfit is newlyopened in Ayala Center Cebu, check out their quilted leatherette options for a more luxe version sans the harsh price tag. Updating your shoe closet should not hurt your feet or pocket.
