‘Intravenous’ Fair in Chong Hua
Chong Hua Hospital’s Nursing Division and the Department of Clinical Advancement proudly launched its first IVT (intravenous therapy) fair with the theme “Your Vein is in Good Hands with Chong Hua Hospital.”
The five-day event from Sept. 7 to 11 was aimed at educating the public about the collaborative approach on safety in caring for patients undergoing intravenous therapy.
IVT is a common hospital procedure of infusing liquid substances directly into the vein.
It is vital for the public to gain awareness on the risks involved if IVT is not properly performed. Complications such as inflammation of the vein (phlebitis) may arise.
Chong Hua promotes its safety circle, which includes partnership with family ( where patients and families are given brochures with answers to commonly asked questions on IVT), staff training, evidence-based clinical guidelines (with a manual for IVT), continuous quality improvement (assessment and monitoring of nurses if proper protocol is being followed) and public information campaign (the IVT fair).
The fair included videomaking and poster-making contests.
Chong Hua Hospital takes pride in its rapid growth and highly skilled medical staff with the sole purpose of giving service–patientfocused care.
