Rerouting set for party rally

UNA to hold Visayas launch tomorrow at 6 a.m. to noon at Cebu Coliseum with region’s allies

-

THE Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) has advised the public that some roads in the downtown area will be closed for several hours to pave the way for a political gathering tomorrow.

United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) will conduct its Visayas-wide launching at the Cebu Coliseum from 6 a.m. to 12 noon.

Vice President Jejomar Binay will lead the gathering.

During the event, all Visayas candidates, including Mayor Michael Rama’s group, Team Rama, will be presented in the first part of the event, and the national group will then take over for the presentation of UNA’s official candidates.

Region

UNA allies from nearby provinces, such as Negros, Bohol and Siquijor, are expected to be in Cebu tomorrow for the event.

Because of the activity, Sanciangko St., from the section of Leon Kilat St. and Borromeo St., will be closed to vehicles from 6 a.m. to 12 noon.

The entrance and exit driveways of e-Mall along Sanciangko St. will also be closed for the duration of the activity.

All vehicles passing along Sanciangko St. will have access to Leon Kilat St., in going to their destinations.

No traffic

CCTO Executive Director Rey Gealon said they are confident that no heavy traffic will be felt in the area as the traffic management plan for the road closure has been proven effective in an earlier gathering.

Last August, the Liberal Party, led by President Benigno Aquino III, also staged its “Gathering of Friends” at the Cebu Coliseum.

“The traffic management plan has already been proven and tested during the president’s visit and we have no reason to believe that it will cause congestion, maybe slow-moving traffic,” Gealon said.

More traffic personnel will be deployed in the area.
