Mandaue Children’s Choir sings ‘Pasko sa Amoa’

-

Amoa, AboitizLand Inc.’s latest community, engenders a deep sense of belonging and pride in all things Cebuano with Pasko sa Amoa, a four-minute Christmas music video performed by the Mandaue Children’s Choir.

The video has had over 80,000 views on YouTube. Viewers have requested the lyrics of the Cebuano piece, with many expressing appreciation for the depth of feelings the song evokes.

The song is written and produced by multi-awarded songwriter and playwright Jude Gitamondoc and arranged by Jad Bantug and Anjelo Calinawan. Maestro Dennis Sugarol has led the Mandaue Chil- dren and Youth Chorus to win numerous international accolades. The choral arrangement is provided by Melvin Corpin.

Cher Estelle Lozada sings parts of the piece solo in a heartrending salute to the components of the simple but hugely family-oriented celebration, namely, “ang biko ni nanay,” and “ang lechon ni tatay.”

The song evokes a longing to escape the hustle and bustle of the city into the more tranquil and happy confines of home. The lyrics hit home.
