Uniqlo at SM Seaside City
The opening of Uniqlo’s second regional store located at SM Seaside City has received a warm welcome and overwhelming response, and this only comes after a month from when it opened its much-awaited first store at SM City Cebu.
This Japanese retail outlet has made its LifeWear concept, Simple Made Better, accessible to all. Offering a full range of everyday essentials for men, women and children, Uniqlo is committed to providing apparel such as premium denim jeans, stylish legging pants, colorful chino shorts, graphic T-shirts, polo shirts, Supima Cotton T-shirts and innerwear to the brand’s unique and proprietary AIRism, HEATTECH and Ultra-Light Down (ULD) collections.
Guest of honor at the tape cut ceremony was none other than Cebu designer and artist Yvonne Quisumbing, who Uniqlo had collaborated with to do the cover artwork of their limited edition notebook. Other guests at the opening were Steph Mediola (SM Seaside City manager), Geraldine Sia (general manager), Katsumi Kubota (chief operating officer), Masayoshi Nakamura (co-chief operating officer) and Toshiyuki Oga (area manager).
Sharing the Japanese art and culture, the Utsuwa Taiko Drummers, an all-female trio, flew in directly from Tokyo to Cebu to captivate the crowd with the sound of the drums to mark the store’s opening! A live visual art demonstration was done as well, which was just absolutely amazing!
“The response of the local market to the Uniqlo brand since we opened our first store here exceeded our expectations. With this 1,000 square meter second store in Cebu, we are able to reach more people and share with them the Japanese principles of simplicity, quality and longevity found in every piece of Uniqlo clothing,” shares Kubota.
