FDA warns vs. unregistered drug products
THE Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is warning the public against using unregistered drug products that are being sold in the local market.
According to FDA Advisory No. 2016-070, consuming unregistered drug products may result to adverse health reactions and should therefore be avoided.
“All health care professionals and the general public are hereby warned to be vigilant of the abovementioned drug products. These pose potential danger or injury to the consuming public,” said the FDA.
The said products are Trypan Blue (Mede-Blu) Ophthalmic Solution 1 mL; Carbachol (CataChol) Intraocular Solution 1 mL; Trypan Blue (IO-blue) Ophthalmic Solution 1 mL; and Carbachol (IO-chol) Intraocular Solution USP 1 mL.
All establishments and outlets are meanwhile being warned against selling and/or dispensing the above identified products.
“The importation, selling or offering for sale of such is in direct violation of Republic Act No. 9711 or the Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009,” said the FDA.
The FDA, then, ordered its Field Regulatory Operations Office to make sure that the said products will not be available in the market.
Similarly, all local government units and law enforcement agencies are also requested to ensure that these products are not sold or offered for sale in their localities or area of jurisdiction.
