Cambridge nurtures young minds
Following the school’s opening last May 2 and the summer programs and free trial classes which began on May 4, regular classes at Cambridge Child Development Center-Gorordo are now in full swing. The center caters to kids from 10 months to six years of age.
Cambridge Philippines partnered with Lucia Chiong Sy for the Gorordo branch. Originally from Singapore, Cambridge now has over 20 preschools in Luzon and Cebu. Its curriculum is a hybrid of advanced educational research theories and the Montessori approach, resulting in a progressive method that promotes interactive learning through discovery and project-based activities.
“If we instill the love for learning at a very young age, that can go a long way,” said Cambridge Philippines president Ger- ry Laperal. He explained that they build on a child’s existing experience and that every child is unique, which is why the pupils in each class are of varying age. These pupils move to a more advanced program based on their willingness and maturity.
Cambridge Gorordo not only boasts a strong curriculum but is also accredited by the Department of Education (DepEd) and follows the fire safety code. The DepEd accreditation is important when the kids graduate preschool and go to elementary schools. Most local universities look for this accreditation for the transfer of the student’s units. The fire safety code requires that preschools should be only a floor up or down from the ground floor so that in the event of a fire, the kids can easily evacuate the building.
