Ian, now Angie, emphasizes: Love is love
Over the weekend, Angelina Mead King was introduced to the world. The transgender woman was formerly known as Ian King. King is the husband of international model Joey Mead and founder of Car Porn Racing, a business that customizes cars.
She introduced herself to the world by creating a new Instagram account as Angelina or Angie with the user handle @hailtothe_ queen_. King, as a man, has a first account with the Twitter handle @hailtothe_king. While the account was created over two weeks ago and she has posted four photos of herself then, people only started noticing when she posted a photo of herself with Mead last Sunday.
King captioned the photo: “My rock and my number one supporter! @joeymeadking, I love you!” “Love is love,” Mead replied. Seven days ago, Mead also posted a photo of herself and King, but the latter did not give an obvious indication that she was already a woman that time.
Then last Sunday, Mead posted a photo of King in a two-piece bikini, swimming in a pool. Mead captioned the photo: “Freedom” along with a heart emoji. While internationally known as Joey Mead, the model’s Twitter handle uses King’s family name: @joeymeadking.
King’s family is also onboard her transition. Her mother, Marvy del Rosario Schuman, posted a lengthy Facebook post about her acceptance of a new daughter.
“I am so happy to announce that my son, Ian, is now my daughter, too! At long last she is out,” said Schuman, who had an inkling that she was having a girl when pregnant with King.
“From the beginning when I was pregnant, I was so sure I was having a girl that I did not have a boy’s name prepared at all… Meet Angie, my tallest daughter who’s got the love for thrills and excitement,” Schuman posted with a photo of herself and King.
“I am happy at my child’s embracing who she/he really is, and he/she is blessed with the joy of crossing over gender lines once and for all.”
King’s brother Atticus also posted a photo of himself with King, Mead, and another woman with the caption: “Here’s a pic with my former kuya who is now my ate. Meet my ‘new’ sister Angie.”
King and Mead have been married since 2011. It was believed that King started his transition in 2012.
Most of the comments on King and Mead’s photos on Instagram were messages of support:

While it seems like Mead is supportive of King’s transition, many are still waiting for her categorical statement on whether they will stay married or not.
Caitlyn Jenner, hailed as the most famous transgender in the world, once said she would have gladly stayed married to Kris Jenner if the latter accepted her for who she is.
