WORLD’S WATCHING, CONDEMNING US
ICONS of mainstream media such as the “New York Times” in the U.S. and “Daily Mail” in London reported the bloodbath in the Philippines. So did the major cable networks such as CNN, MSNBC and CBS.
But it’s not good press, not the kind that invites tourists and investors to the country but the sort that draws out travel warnings from foreign embassies to their nationals.
International drug enforcement NGOs are pushing the International Narcotics Control Board and the U.N. Office on Drugs and control to condemn the Philippine policy and persuade it to follow “evidence-based” and “healthfocused” anti- drug campaign, not killing crime suspects.
Not just our Constitution and laws but the international commitments the country made are violated by the illegal executions, the criticisms say.
