AboitizLand donates 8th Silid-Pangarap bldg.
Aboitiz Group assures commitment to help improve country’s education
ABOITIZLAND, with the support of the Aboitiz Foundation, recently turned over an AGAPP Silid-Pangarap building to the Ernesto Veloso Elementary School in Barangay Cabadiangan, Liloan, Cebu.
Aklat, Gabay at Aruga Tungo sa Pagangat at Pag-asa (AGAPP) is a foundation that collaborates with institutions in providing literacy and early childhood and care development programs.
The foundation provided the design and the training for teachers, while institutions like AboitizLand and Aboitiz Foundation funded the construction cost. Aside from providing a physical structure where kindergarten classes may be held, AGAPP also partnered with National Bookstore and Uratex to furnish the classrooms with child-friendly furniture and books.
The turnover ceremony in Liloan was the eighth AGAPP school building constructed by AboitizLand in Cebu.
Newly-elected Liloan Mayor Christina Frasco and her husband, Vice Mayor Duke Frasco, accepted the donation from AboitizLand chief operating officer Patrick Reyes, Aboitiz Foundation executive vice president and chief operating officer Augusto Carpio III.
Commitment
Also in attendance were Ernesto Veloso Elementary School principal Dalmacio Maglasang, Department of Education District Supervisor Glicerio Camongay, Cabadiangan Barangay Councilor Giovanni Cabatingan, AboitizLand and Aboitiz Foundation Inc. officers, faculty and staff, and parents.
Carpio underscored the commitment of the Aboitiz Group of Companies to the improvement of education in the country.
Mayor Frasco assured the local government unit’s support to education.
“Seeing a facility like this for early childhood development warms my heart,” she said.
AboitizLand and the Aboitiz Foundation have pursued projects toward the upliftment of the quality of classroom instruction, particularly in the early childhood and elementary schools.
AboitizLand sustained volunteer programs enhancing students’ capability to assimilate regular classroom lessons by conducting out-of-the-box learning experiences for students, aside from supporting the Alternative Learning System of the DepEd in certain barangays in Metro Cebu.
