Amcham marks 70 yrs. of Fil-Am friendship

The American Chamber of Commerce–Cebu Chapter (Amcham Cebu), in celebratio­n of 70 years of Philippine-American (Phil-Am) friendship, hosted its annual grand event last July 2 at the posh Radisson Blu Hotel.

Dubbed “Still Rockin' at 70!” the event showcased musical performanc­es from Junior Troubadour­s, The Tuners, Infinite Rhythm Band, Welfe Salvador and talented presenters from member companies, Timex, Radisson Blu and Lexmark. Director Wilson Ng gave a solemn invocation at the start of the program, as well as a flute solo over dinner. Event co-chair Alice Woolbright brought along her bevy of dream girls, who ramped the floor in a mini fashion show that wowed the crowd.

Energetic funny man Billy Sienes was paired with the demure Claudine Nicolle Dakay, a.k.a. DJ Ronee of iFM Cebu, as emcees for the night. The event was graced by US Consul General; Donna M. Blair, who gave an endearing message about Phil-Am relations. Also present was Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale, along with Dawnie Roa, former director of the Department of Tourism 7.

Among the sponsors were Lexmark, Cebu Holdings Inc., Harolds Hotel, Ng Khai Developmen­t Corp., Visayan Electric Company, Regus, Sky Cable, Globe, Chevron, Timex Phils., Knowles Technologi­cal, Santa Fe Relocation Services, Mactan Enerzone and Savvy-sherpa Asia. Premier Hotels, Marco Polo Plaza, Radisson Blu, Marriott Cebu City Hotel, Sarrosa Int'l, Montebello Villa Hotel and Golden Prince Hotel.

Congratula­tions to the big winners of the night: Paz Perdices for winning a trip to Boracay from Grand Holidays Travel and Tours; Precila Ariene Sun, who won the trip to Xiamen from XiamenAir, and Ray Molonjao for winning a round-trip ticket to the US from Korean Air.
