Stranded and loving it

- BY KARL ARIES EMERSON F. CABILAO

Rainy days are here again. Nothing dampens you more than being stuck in school, office or home because of the heavy downpour when you’re supposed to go somewhere else. These days, heavy rains usually result to flooding, so an umbrella would really not suffice (yes, you might need a jetski to avoid being stranded). So is there something to be excited about being stranded because of the rain? Well, not unless you’re in some place comfy and relaxing. Today, these readers talk about the places where they’d love to be during a heavy downpour.

I think Busay would be the safest place to be stranded in during a heavy downpour especially when the main city streets would be flooded.— Ralph Eduard So, 16, student (SHS-Hijas de Jesus)

A coffee shop would be the best place to be stranded during heavy rain. Of course with a comfortable seat, hot coffee, a newspaper and free wifi!— Jude Ross Avila, 25, post graduate intern

If it rains heavily, nothing is more pleasurable than a pile of books and my lady stranded with me. These days, being stranded in traffic in the rain is the worst nightmare. Fine, actually not the worst if I’m with her.— Daryl Toring, 21, banking sales associate

There’s this tiny coffee shop on Echavez where I’d usually go alone and stay for hours. I want to be stranded there because they have a mezzanine with a sofa—everything’s cozy. It’s quiet, café mocha is cheaper and they have a pet shrine. Rain paired with good music in that place would be really great. With the wifi, of course.— Arielle Olasiman, 22, architecture student (USC)
