A 39-YEAR-OLD man was arrested for alleged involvement in at least 20 motorcycle thefts and in the illegal drug trade at 12:45 p.m. last Monday.

Rhevortson Aballe was caught on Junquera St. in Barangay Kamagayan, Cebu City.

“Iyang gi-admit nga mao gud na iyang tripping basta makagamit siya, mang carnap siyag motor (He admitted that every time he used drugs, he would get into carnapping motorcycles),” said Senior Insp. Dexter Basirgo of the Police Station 1.

Aballe’s arrest was made after the police received a call from a concerned citizen informing them about the presence of an armed person alarm.

Aballe was arrested after he yielded caliber .38 revolver loaded with four bullets.

He was also allegedly found in possession of a medium pack of suspected shabu that weighed five grams with a street value of P59,000.

Aballe reportedly confessed to have carnapped at least 20 motorcycles for this year. He reportedly has pending warrants for such offense.

Aballe said that he resorted to stealing motorcycles because of illegal drugs. He said he sold the stolen motorcycleat P3,000 to P4,000 each.

The suspect, however, remained tight-lipped about the source of his illegal drugs.

Aballe reportedly started using drugs in 1997 and had started to steal motorcycles a few months later.

He carnapped motorcycles on the streets of Cebu City and in Barangay Tabunok, Talisay City.

Basirgo said he is suspecting that Aballe also sells drugs in Barangay Mambaling where he resides.

Basirgo urged those who lost their motorcycles to visit the Police Station 1 in Barangay Parian to verify the identity of Aballe.

Two motorcycle units were recovered after the suspect’s arrest, and are now in the custody of the Police Station 1.

He will face charges for drug possession and illegal possession of an unlicensed firearm.
