Hayashi-ha Shitoryukai karatekas to join Maysian tilt
SEVEN karatekas from the Hayashi-ha Shitoryukai Cebu will be competing in the 18th Malaysian/Milo Open Karate Championship next year in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Marie Leoneo Sacedon, Eliza Mae Sacedon, Enzo Nirel Hipulan, Christian Kenji Nakazawa, Michelle James Sato, Christian Mae Sato and Ejay Morales are all competing in annual tournament that’s scheduled on May 27 to 29 next year.
The karatekas, which is mentored by Jaime Sumalinog, had an impressive finish in the recent Milo Little Olympics here in Cebu by bagging a total of seven gold medals, five silver medals and four bronze medals.
The Milo Little Olympics was part of the team’s preparation for the tournament next year.
Meanwhile, five junior ka- ratekas from Mandaue City bagged various accolades during the recently concluded Milo Little Olympics Visayas Karatedo Championships held in Cebu City.
Young karatekas under the Sports Karatedo Organization (SKO) emerged with two golds, silver and bronze medals during the Kumite (sparring) event held at the SM Seaside City at the South Road Properties (SRP).
Leading SKO is Janine Narboada from Talamban Elementary School who captured the gold medal in the 8-9 year old category.
Narboada’s team mate, Treshia Ogoc from Mactan Elementary got a bronze medal in the same category.
Ogoc’s elder sister, Trexsie, also from Mactan Elementary School, got another bronze medal in the 9-10 year old category.
In the secondary division, Mabelle Seares from Mandaue Technical School emerged as the champion in the girl’s 14 year old Kumite category while teammate Gabriel Marie Antonio of Colegio dela Immaculada Concepcion-Mandaue City fought her way to a silver medal in the girl’s 15 year old category.
The SKO team was led by chief instructor, Shihan Jess Paredes.
